"If we expect our dogs to perform like professional athletes, its time we start treating them like one."

The Birth of Alpha Dog Nutrition

The idea for Alpha Dog Nutrition started in 2016 when our founder, Joe Scott, noticed that there were no straightforward nutritional options for his hunting dog Trigger. After consulting with pet nutritionalists & veterinarians from all over the United States, Alpha Dog Nutrition has finally made it's debut. Their highly specialized formulas are now available to hunting dogs throughout the United States.

About the Owner - Joe Scott

Starting the company when he was only 27 years old, Joe Scott is certainly on a different path than most people in their 20's. However, this isn't his first rodeo. He also started and owns Vault Cargo Management - the fastest growing company in the cargo management & vehicle recovery product space today.

While Vault is certainly fun for Joe, Alpha Dog Nutrition truly was created as a passion project for him. He grew up in Northern Wisconsin chasing grouse, woodcock, & pheasant with his dad Kevin. He certainly likes actually harvesting the birds, but his favorite part of the hunts was always watching the dogs work.

As most bird hunters probably know, anytime your dog catches site of you wearing your brush pants or packing your shotgun into your case they get incredibly fired up & excited. They are fully aware of the adventure that they are about to go on, and they can't wait to get out there. As the family's current bird dog, Sasha, got a bit older she started to have trouble with arthritis along with a few other ailments. The time had finally come when Sasha couldn't come hunting with Kevin & Joe anymore...

It was absolutely heartbreaking to leave her behind after seeing her get so emotionally excited about the hunt, but unable to physically come along. The worst feeling in the world was shutting the door on the way out & knowing that Sasha was on the other side wondering why Kevin & Joe weren't bringing her with. They were truly trying to do what was best for her, but it didn't make it any easier.

Joe didn't realize it at the time, but this really planted the seeds for wanting to really help hunting dogs extend the amount of time in their lives where they can remain active. As his current dog Trigger turned 6 years old, it hit him that he will one day have to head out hunting while Trigger stayed home. That's when Joe decided that he wanted to do everything he could to help Trigger come along on hunts as late into his life as possible.

That's when he started talking to nutritionists & veterinarians about the possibility of Alpha Dog Nutrition, and the rest is history. Alpha Dog Nutrition is truly about Joe's passion for helping hunters make sure that they never have to leave their bird dog behind at home while they go out on a hunt.
